Your shoulder is very flexible, but it’s also very fragile. Pain in your shoulder or upper arm pain can result from a number of causes. An irritated nerve in your neck, repeated overuse or an injury can cause inflammation and stiffness making everyday activities painful. Bursitis, rotator cuff and tendons can be affected from overuse or injury causing pain and stiffness. At Cornerstone Chiropractic & Wellness Center, we use a multidisciplinary approach to shoulder pain therapy. We combine joint mobilization with active release techniques to loosen up the muscular imbalance in the rotator cuff and break up any scar tissue that may have formed during the injury. Combining these practices takes pressure off the affected nerves and in many cases, decreases the pain and discomfort. Dr. Joe may also recommend physical therapy, which has been known to restore proper muscle tone and balance to the surrounding areas. The combination of these types of treatment has been known to give patients the best opportunity for improvement while still using a conservative approach to health.
